Okay… so I’m a day late and a dollar short, but in my defense, I am usually off on Tuesday’s. Not off to a good start, huh? Hopefully, it won’t deter you from participating because I think it’s going to be a really fun year of writing. I have so much planned.
For those of you who haven’t heard, I am hosting a year long flash fiction challenge. Every Tuesday in 2018, I will be posting a writing prompt. Your job is to take that prompt and create whatever your little heart desires … (up to 1,000 words, that is) … for the rest of us to oooh and aaah over. It doesn’t have to be great fiction, but it has to be yours. The reason I upped the ante from 500 words (as in 2014) to 1,000, is that I kept running over the word count. So I thought, 1,000 words is still considered “flash”, why not give a little leeway. Your writing doesn’t have to reach the thousand mark, but gives you the opportunity to use it if needed. You’ll have until midnight the following Monday to pingback your submission, or link it in the comments section. Then on Tuesdays, I’ll post a list of everyone’s submissions for the prior week with the next weeks prompt.
Most importantly, this is not a contest – there are no judges here, everybody wins. However, I do HIGHLY encourage you to read and comment on others writings. I know one of the main reasons I’m doing this is to learn and grow as a writer, and hopefully develop a new relationship or two on the way.
As well as the weekly prompts, I will most definitely be posting a few side “challenges” along the way to make things even more interesting!
So, if any of that sounds like it’s up your alley, head on over to the FFC2018 Challenge blog and make yourself at home. Grab a badge and don’t forget to officially ENTER the challenge so we all get to know a little about you.
Don’t be afraid to pass the word along, either. The more the merrier!
